Scéim Aitheantais na Gaeltachta

In September 2018 OLSS Belmullet took its first step in becoming a bilingual school. In conjunction with the Department of Education’s Scéim Aitheantais na Gaeltachta, a scheme which aims to “provide a high quality and relevant Irish-medium education for young people in Gaeltacht schools [and] to support and encourage the use of Irish in Gaeltacht communities,” OLSS is continually progressing the use of Irish in all aspects of school life. Currently, the Gaeilge T1 course and C.S.P.E. through Irish (OSSP) is offered to Junior students, while activities through the medium of Irish take place within our school environment. The scheme provides an extra educational opportunity for our students and our school community as a whole.
